Listen back and view slides from our webinar featuring case studies of the work we’ve done to tackle poverty with national, regional and local data.Welfare reforms will take almost £13billion a year from claimants by 2020-21, bringing the loss since 2010 to £27billion a year. This equates to £690 a year for every adult of working age, according to analysis by Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research. Professor Christina Beatty said that the worst is yet to come for those most severly hit, namely low income families with children, and urged councils to plan now for the impact. Yet understanding exactly which households will be impacted by the welfare reforms, and how, is the challenge. Policy in Practice works with local authorities to do just that.

We combine local authority data with our powerful modelling engine to show the aggregate and cumulative impact of reforms on each household so that local authorities can get the right support to those who need help the most, before crisis hits.
