Harnessing data for regional impact: empowering local leaders to drive change Devolution is one of the core missions of the new government, promising a strong focus on giving local areas more control over services. To tackle economic inactivity, and with many people across the UK needing support, it’s vital that local authorities deliver effective, targeted interventions. The success of tailored, region-specific approaches depends on how well local areas can harness data to drive change.

Local organisations, from Mayoral Combined Authorities to county councils, need to deliver these crucial services. May recap of the major benefits changes and Coronavirus

The video from DWP, below, illustrates how Coronavirus (COVID-19) has increased the demand for applications of Universal Credit between January 2018 until the early weeks of the Coronavirus pandemic.

As new measures to control Coronavirus (COVID-19) are introduced Policy in Practice’s Head of Policy, Zoe Charlesworth, gave a recap of the major changes to the welfare system and explored their impacts in this webinar.

We were joined by special guest Victoria Todd, Low Incomes Tax Reform Group, who updated us on the latest changes to tax credits.

In addition, Megan Mclean shared some of the common questions we’ve received on our Coronavirus support page from people who are worried about their income. She explained the answers we’ve given, highlighting the complexity of what has become a dual welfare system.

Finally, Peter Carter briefly walked through software tools that help our clients to give the best advice possible to their customers.
