Policy in Practice debate on Workfare on the Islam Channel

Deven Ghelani was on the Islam Channel debating Workfare.

He argues that work experience can work, many young people are desperate to show employers what they can do.
Work experience are not mandatory, and mandatory work related activity applies after twelve months of unemployment, and can help to show the long term unemployed the benefits of work. However, a case like that of Cait Reilly where she has arranged her own work experience was clearly a case of poor advice from an employment advisor, and is inexcusable.
